<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the world of pizza, people often pick between deep dish and thin crust. However, here in Michigan, we also have Detroit style pizza. Square, and thick, and absolutely delicious! Buddy&#8217;s Pizza makes a delicious, yeast free and gluten free crust that will absolutely love!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Buddy&#8217;s Pizza History</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Buddy&#8217;s Pizza has been a Detroit institution for decades. Literally. The original Buddy&#8217;s Pizza opened in Detroit, Michigan in 1946. This is Detroit&#8217;s iconic pizza parlor, from the small corner business to the large chain that runs today. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This gem is not just a Michigan favorite. In 2003 the Food Network claimed it as one of the &#8220;Nation&#8217;s Five Best Pizza Places.&#8221; Regardless of its growth, this pizzeria is still family owned.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Gluten-Free-Menu-1-600x900.jpg" alt="Buddy's Pizza Gluten Free Menu " class="wp-image-5095" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Gluten-Free-Menu-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Gluten-Free-Menu-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Does Buddy&#8217;s Prepare Gluten Free Pizzas?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I learned about Buddy&#8217;s Pizza from people in my support group years ago. Everyone who eat there LOVES it. They take some great steps to prevent cross contact, too. They make their own homemade gluten free crust. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">First, staff sterilize their work space. When a customer orders a gluten free pizza at Buddy&#8217;s, staff change gloves and use clean utensils. They even use fresh sauce and toppings. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Gluten free pizzas are baked on the top rack, lined with foil, to prevent cross contact with other pizzas. Each of their location hires employs a staff member explicitly trained in food allergy preparation protocol.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="600" height="338" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Gluten-Free-Pizza-1-600x338.jpg" alt="Buddy's Pizza Gluten Free Detroit Style Pizza" class="wp-image-5097" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Gluten-Free-Pizza-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Gluten-Free-Pizza-1-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is Buddy&#8217;s Gluten Free Pizza Crust Dairy Free? No. </h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This Buddy&#8217;s Pizza crust tastes 100&amp; amazing, is nice and fluffy, and contains no yeast. I asked the staff how they miraculously pull this off. Buttermilk. All those fantastic cultures provide the lift to this pizza. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You can choose your own toppings (from their gluten free menu, only) or order one of their signature pizzas. We chose pineapple and grilled chicken. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"> I highly appreciate that Buddy&#8217;s Pizza waitstaff bring a fresh pizza cutter with your order. Therefore, you cut your own pizza, further diminishing the chance for cross contact.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Salad-1-600x900.jpg" alt="Buddy's Pizza Salad Gluten Free Detroit Style Pizza" class="wp-image-5096" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Salad-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Salad-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Does Buddy&#8217;s Pizza Prepare Their Salads?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Each salad is prepared freshly in a clean bowl, which is brought to the table. Buddy&#8217;s Pizza makes a majority of their salad dressings from scratch, although not all of them are gluten free. I LOVE the Buddy&#8217;s Pizza Greek Salad.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="338" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Bocce-Mural-1-600x338.jpg" alt="Buddy's Pizza Bocce Mural Gluten Free Detroit Style Pizza" class="wp-image-5098" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Bocce-Mural-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Bocce-Mural-1-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Buddy&#8217;s Pizza and Bocce Ball</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Buddy&#8217;s Pizza offers more than just food and drinks. The original downtown Detroit location also offers bocce ball. The tradition of bocce ball at Buddy&#8217;s Pizza is as old as the founding of the original location. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">What&#8217;s bocce? This &#8220;lawn game&#8221; involves 8 balls, and a one small target. The game can be played between two people, or against teams. The connection between Buddy&#8217;s Pizza and bocce is so famous, that a <a href="https://www.detroitnews.com/story/entertainment/dining/first-draft/2018/05/15/griffin-claw-brewery-and-buddys-pizza-team-up-bocce-ipa-craft-beer-michigan/613363002/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Griffin Claw Brewing named a beer in honor of it</a>. So head to Buddy&#8217;s Pizza on Six Mile, order a pizza, and play a round! (Beer is not gluten free.)</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Where is Buddy&#8217;s Pizza Located?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Buddy&#8217;s Pizza operates 14 full service restaurants and 5 carry out <a href="https://www.buddyspizza.com/locations" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">locations</a>, mostly in the greater Detroit area. I have personally visited the Novi location, as well Auburn Hills and Okemos, which is the only location outside of the Detroit area. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you visit the Novi location, I highly suggest a short drive to the <a href="https://www.awesomemitten.com/places-michigan-vegan-ice-cream/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Dairy Twist Cafe on Benstein Rd in Walled Lake</a>. They offer gluten free and dairy free soft serve ice cream, as well as gluten free cones! (Just one of many places to get <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/8-great-michigan-gluten-free-ice-crea/" type="post" id="28">gluten free ice cream in Michigan</a>.) </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other Detroit Area Gluten Free Dining Recommendations</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you find yourself in Detroit at breakfast time, I also suggest a stop at <a href="https://www.folkdetroit.com/.">Folk Detroit</a>. Check out my article on <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/gluten-free-detroit-dining-options/" type="post" id="12792">Detroit Gluten Free Dining Options</a> for more Motor City restaurant recommendations!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Who Owns Tru Pizza?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Many Michiganders know that Tru Pizza originally started in 2014 as Renee&#8217;s Gourmet Pizzeria. Opened in Troy by Gabe Hertz, he started the restaurant due to his daughter&#8217;s Eosinophilic Esophagitis, which prevented her from eating gluten and nuts. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In May 2019, Achille (Ace) DiNello purchased the business. He changed the name to <a href="https://trupizzaco.com/">Tru Pizza</a>, but maintained the dedicated gluten free kitchen and menu. Since taking over the business, he has offered franchising options to independent owners to expand the brand.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Achille DiNello owns quite an impressive business portfolio. Aside from Tru Pizza, he also owns <a href="https://517mag.com/iconic-dessert-returns-to-msu-home-games/">Melting Moments</a>, <a href="https://www.restaurantnews.com/deliciously-authentic-pizza-franchise-new-york-pizza-pie-announces-nationwide-sales-launch-101923/">New York Pizza Pie</a>, and recently acquired <a href="https://www.mlive.com/news/flint/2026/03/halo-burger-homecoming-iconic-downtown-flint-location-reopening-soon.html">Halo Burger</a> in Flint and  <a href="https://ruralinnovationexchange.com/glazed-and-grilled-the-merger-of-cops-doughnuts-and-halo-burger/">Cops &amp; Donuts</a> in 2026.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What&#8217;s On The Menu at Tru Pizza?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Despite the name, Tru Pizza serves more than just pizza. They also offer calzones, wraps, pasta, salad and even soups! <a href="https://trupizzaco.com/menu">Their menu also includes</a> appetizers such as chicken wings and fries. Oh, and they offer both New York Thin Crust and Detroit Deep Dish pizzas.</p>

</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is the Menu the Same at all Locations?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As mentioned above, each location offers a version of the original menu. Each location uses the same Tru Dough recipe. However not all options are available at each location.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Plymouth location offers pizza, fries, pasta, salads, wraps and elephant ears &amp; cinnamon sticks for dessert. They are experimenting with wings &amp; chicken strips, but they are not available just yet. They do not offer soup because Rumi&#8217;s Passion makes it next door. </p>

</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is their Menu Free from Other Food Allergens?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Tru Pizza uses no peanuts, sesame, or fish in any of their menu items. You can see their complete <a href="https://trupizzaco.com/allergen-list">allergen list</a> on the original Troy website. The allergen list discloses menu items that contain eggs, dairy, soy and corn.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A disclaimer on the Troy website states &#8220;*Vegan cheese uses coconut oil. Cake rolls and cookies are produced in another facility that may contain tree nuts and peanuts.&#8221;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Renees-Mac-and-Cheese-Pizza-1.jpg" alt="Tru Pizza Gluten Free Mac and Cheese Pizza" class="wp-image-89570" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Renees-Mac-and-Cheese-Pizza-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Renees-Mac-and-Cheese-Pizza-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Gluten Free Macaroni and Cheese Pizza</figcaption></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Type of Oil Do They Use for Cooking?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Troy location and Plymouth location both use canola oil. The website for the Wyandotte locations claims they use &#8220;use 100% canola oil in all fryers. Chicken and dairy products are cooked in dedicated fryers separate from vegan items.&#8221;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do They Have Vegetarian or Vegan Options?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The dough for their pizza and calzones contain no animal products. They offer vegan cheese for pizzas, calzones and pasta dishes. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="658" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Tru-Pizza-Cinnamon-Sticks-600x658.jpg" alt="Tru Pizza Gluten Free Cinnamon Sticks" class="wp-image-89565" style="width:600px;height:auto" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Tru-Pizza-Cinnamon-Sticks-600x658.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Tru-Pizza-Cinnamon-Sticks-273x300.jpg 273w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Tru-Pizza-Cinnamon-Sticks.jpg 720w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit &#8211; Tru Pizza</figcaption></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do They Have Dessert Options?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Yes! Tru Pizza is famous for their gluten free elephant ears and cinnamon sticks with frosting. The original location in Troy also offers a S&#8217;mores Pizza.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="800" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Tru-Pizza-Wyandotte-Alcohol-1.jpg" alt="Alcohol options at Tru Pizza in Wyandotte, MI" class="wp-image-89572" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Tru-Pizza-Wyandotte-Alcohol-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Tru-Pizza-Wyandotte-Alcohol-1-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit- Tru Pizza Wyandotte</figcaption></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do They Serve Alcohol?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">No. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do They Offer Weekly Discounts?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Troy location offers three different lunch combos from 11 am &#8211; 2 p m, Monday thru Friday. For $8.99 you can order 2 slices of pizza with a foundation drink, or 1 slice of pizza with a drink and either a side salad or a cup of soup.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Plymouth location lunch combo is 2 slices and a can of pop for $10.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Wyandotte locations offer a lunch combo from 11 am &#8211; 2 pm. Combo options include Two Slices of Pizza + Drink for $9.99 or a Chicken Wrap + Fries + Drink for $15.99.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do They Deliver?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Troy location utilizes third party delivery companies to deliver to local areas . The Plymouth location offers 3rd party delivery through Uber Eats, Doordash &amp; GrubHub.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Tru Pizza is one of many <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/michigan-gluten-free-dining/">Michigan gluten free dining</a> options I recommend on my blog. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">Visting the University of Michigan? Planning a trip to Ann Arbor? Then you&#8217;ll want to read my list of Ann Arbor Gluten Free Dining Options.&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="700" height="536" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Ann-Arbor-Gluten-Free-restaurant-options-min.jpg" alt="Ann Arbor Gluten-Free Restaurant Welcome Sign" class="wp-image-2968" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Ann-Arbor-Gluten-Free-restaurant-options-min.jpg 700w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Ann-Arbor-Gluten-Free-restaurant-options-min-600x459.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Ann-Arbor-Gluten-Free-restaurant-options-min-300x230.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></figure>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Where is Ann Arbor? </h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Ann Arbor is a huge tourist destination in Michigan. Being the home of one of Michigan&#8217;s two Big Ten athletic teams, that brings a lot of visitors. In fact, the Ann Arbor Convention and Visitor&#8217;s Bureau estimates<a href="https://www.mlive.com/business/ann-arbor/index.ssf/2015/03/aaacvb_by_the_numbers.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> 5.6 million people</a> visited there in 2014.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If we figure that 1% of the population has Celiac Disease, we could estimate that 50,000 people are in need of gluten-free dining options while in the area. So to help make your trip a little bit easier, here are my list of top Ann Arbor gluten-free restaurant suggestions. (Plus two dedicated gluten free bakeries!)</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Zingerman&#8217;s Roadhouse</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="700" height="525" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Zingermans-Gluten-Free-Grits-and-Bits-Waffles-min.jpg" alt="Zingerman's Gluten-Free Grits and Bits Waffles" class="wp-image-2906" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Zingermans-Gluten-Free-Grits-and-Bits-Waffles-min.jpg 700w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Zingermans-Gluten-Free-Grits-and-Bits-Waffles-min-300x225.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">My first mention in my Ann Arbor gluten-free restaurant suggestions is <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/zingermans-roadhouse-gluten-free/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Zingerman&#8217;s Roadhouse</a>. Why? Because Zingerman&#8217;s is synonymous with the name Ann Arbor. The level of <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2017/02/27/zingermans-roadhouse-gluten-free/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">care that they take with their food prep</a> is PHENOMENAL.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With dedicated fryers, toasters and waffle irons, it gives peace of mind while you&#8217;re enjoying your meal. I mean, look at those Bits &amp; Grits Waffles?! I wish I had a plate of them right now. Or their a gluten-free fried chicken. Fried Chicken folks! While you&#8217;re in the area, make a pit stop at <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/a-trip-to-ann-arbor-and-plum-marke/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Plum Market</a> across the street for <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/ethels-baking-co/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ethel&#8217;s Baking Company</a> treats and other gluten-free goods.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Frita Batidos</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="525" height="525" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Frita-Batidos-Batidos-min.jpg" alt="The batidos at Frita Batidos are tropical milkshakes" class="wp-image-2951" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Frita-Batidos-Batidos-min.jpg 525w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Frita-Batidos-Batidos-min-150x150.jpg 150w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Frita-Batidos-Batidos-min-300x300.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I think I&#8217;m in love with <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/frita-batidos-gluten-free/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Frita Batidos</a>. Even though their &#8220;fritas&#8221; are served bunless for us gluten-free eaters, it may be the most delicious beef patty I&#8217;ve ever tasted. Did I mention that their beef is locally sourced?  Their signature fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer. That&#8217;s a huge thing for those of us with Celiac Disease.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Their batido milkshakes are wonderful. I could eat my weight in their cajeta, which is made-in-house salted goat&#8217;s milk caramel. Cover one of their sweet deep-fried plantains in the stuff and you&#8217;ll never want to leave. Add rum to their batidos and it truly is a happy hour.&nbsp;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Condado Tacos</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Condado-Plain-Jane-Taco-1-1.jpg" alt="Condado Tacos Gluten Free Plain Jane Taco" class="wp-image-13636" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Condado-Plain-Jane-Taco-1-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Condado-Plain-Jane-Taco-1-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I&#8217;ve visited three different Condado Taco locations, and have had amazing meals every time. The majority of their menu is gluten free, and they have great protocols in place for dietary restrictions. Plus they&#8217;re a peanut free and nut free restaurant. <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/condado-tacos-gluten-free-options/">Read my review</a>.&nbsp;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Juicy Kitchen</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="525" height="700" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Juicy-Kitchen-Stuffed-French-Toast-Insta-min.jpg" alt="Ann Arbor Gluten-Free Juicy Kitchen Stuffed French Toast" class="wp-image-2966" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Juicy-Kitchen-Stuffed-French-Toast-Insta-min.jpg 525w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Juicy-Kitchen-Stuffed-French-Toast-Insta-min-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Ann Arbor is a place with many eclectic flavors and attention to healthy eats.<a href="https://www.juicykitchen-a2.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> Juicy Kitchen</a> focuses fresh, local food with options for all kinds of eaters. Gluten-free? Check. Vegetarian? Check. Vegan? Yep, that&#8217;s covered too. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This delicious gluten-free stuffed French toast is cooked on a dedicated griddle with clean utensils and bowls. Cooks never share the egg wash from the regular French Toast. I highly suggest taking a bite with a bit of strawberry.&nbsp;</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Core Life Eatery</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="600" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/core-life-eatery-1-600x600.jpg" alt="core life eatery " class="wp-image-7280" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/core-life-eatery-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/core-life-eatery-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/core-life-eatery-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/core-life-eatery-1-200x200.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <a href="https://locations.corelifeeatery.com/corelife-eatery-b6a1d47669ef" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Core Life Eatery</a> chain recently opened a new location in Ann Arbor. Apart from the bread made off site, everything at Core Life contains no gluten ingredients. You can create your own bowl, or order one of their popular entrees. They also feature some pretty amazing beverages, including hot bone broth.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Anna&#8217;s House</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Annas-House-Breakfast-Lasagna-1-600x900.jpg" alt="Anna's House Breakfast Lasagna" class="wp-image-7292" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Annas-House-Breakfast-Lasagna-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Annas-House-Breakfast-Lasagna-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This chain of restaurants originally started in Grand Rapids, and opened the Ann Arbor <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/annas-house-gluten-free-michigan/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Anna&#8217;s House</a> location in 2019. Gluten free meals are prepared in a dedicated prep space with dedicated utensils. While any meal here is stellar, their gluten free breakfast options are phenomenal. Pictured above is their breakfast lasagna.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Buddy&#8217;s Pizza</h3>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="338" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Gluten-Free-Pizza-1.jpg" alt="Buddy's Pizza Gluten Free Detroit Style Pizza" class="wp-image-5097" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Gluten-Free-Pizza-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Buddys-Pizza-Gluten-Free-Pizza-1-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>1. Paesano&#8217;s</strong><br>I&#8217;ve heard lots of great things about <a href="https://www.paesanoannarbor.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Paesano&#8217;s</a> over the years. A friend recently had dinner there, and enjoyed gluten free pasta and even tiramisu! They even serve gluten free bread. I need to return to Ann Arbor just to visit this restaurant.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>2. Pilar&#8217;s Tamales</strong><br><a href="https://www.pilarstamales.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pilar&#8217;s Tamales</a> is a small Salvadoran restaurant on Liberty St. Corn flour comprises the base of almost every item on the menu. They do make a few non gluten-free desserts. I highly suggest the pupusas stuffed with cheese and loroco flower.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>3. &nbsp;Miki Japanese Restaurant</strong><br>My friend Jen Burch, from Blue Bear Aware, highly recommended this Ann Arbor gluten-free restaurant option to me. The biggest issue for any Asian restaurant is the presence of wheat in soy sauce. She reports that <a href="https://mikiannarbor.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Miki </a>offers gluten-free soy sauce for their dishes. If you get a chance to eat there safely, report back so I know!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>4. Totoro</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re in the mood for sushi, <a href="https://totoroannarbor.com/menus-2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Totoro </a>has many gluten free sushi options. Gluten free options notated on menu.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>5. Stadium Market</strong><br><a href="https://www.facebook.com/Stadium-Market-117827304180/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Stadium Market</a> isn&#8217;t really a restaurant. It&#8217;s a party store with a functional kitchen, selling gluten-free pizza and breakfast sandwiches Again, Find Me Gluten-Free has many reviews about this place. I sought the advice of Valarie Mates, the moderator of the online Gluten-Free Ann Arbor Yahoo Group.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">She said that it&#8217;s &#8220;awesome.&#8221; Stadium Market reportedly has many gluten-free beers, and sells a selection of Udi&#8217;s products. If you can attest to their steps for preventing cross-contact, please let me know!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>6. Salt Springs Brewery</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/salt-springs-brewery-gluten-free-options/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Salt Springs Brewery</a> is located in Saline, which is just outside of Ann Arbor. While I have not personally eaten there, I&#8217;ve been told they have a dedicated gluten free fryer for fried fish. However, I would check with wait staff before ordering, just to make sure. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Final Reminders about Eating Gluten Free in Ann Arbor</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As always, I suggest calling restaurants prior to dining to <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/dining-out-gluten-free-questions/">ask about gluten free food preparation practices</a>. This allows you to get the best information without staff being distracted during a food rush. Luckily, Ann Arbor is a forward thinking city and there are plenty of options. You can even eat safely at <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/university-of-michigan-food-allergy/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">University of Michigan</a> dining commons! And last I knew, there&#8217;s a gluten free stand at the football field. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Where do you look to eat in Ann Arbor? Leave me a note and I&#8217;ll be sure to check them out!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>**In full disclosure, I was provided free meals at some of these establishments, but that does change my views or my comments.** </em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Situated on US-23, a short distance from Lake Huron, sits Alcona Brew Haus. This Michigan restaurant takes gluten free food and food allergies very seriously. They maintain separate prep spaces, and even have gluten free fries. Read more in my interview with the owner, below. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Where is Alcona Brew Haus located? </h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Situated along US-23, between Alpena and Tawas, Alcona Brew Haus calls Harrisville, MI home. Located a mile and a half from the Harrisville Harbor, this restaurant is just a stone&#8217;s throw from Lake Huron. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" data-pin-description="Alcona Brew Haus Menu" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Bew-Haus-Menu-1.jpg" alt="Alcona Brew Haus Menu" class="wp-image-85780" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Bew-Haus-Menu-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Bew-Haus-Menu-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What Gluten Free Food Options does Alcona Brew Haus Offer?</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">They offer a large selection of gluten free options. Options include pizza, burgers &amp; fries, and even macaroni and cheese. In fact, the majority of the menu can be made gluten free. The menu even includes three gluten free desserts. Only things that can’t accommodate GF are our pretzel, crispy chicken sandwich, veggie burger and large pizzas. All other menu items are or can be safely GF.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Burger.jpg" alt="Gluten Free burger and potato chips. </div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Does Alcona Brew Haus Offer Gluten Free Buns?</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">No they do not, but it&#8217;s intentional. By not using buns for gluten free burgers, it&#8217;s one more safeguard to making sure your burger is gluten free. It can be served on sandwich bread or pita bread. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Fries-Ketchup-1.jpg" alt="Gluten Free Fries cooked in a dedicated broaster" class="wp-image-85782" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Fries-Ketchup-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Fries-Ketchup-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What Steps Do They Take to Safely Prepare Gluten Free Meals? </h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Alcona Brew Haus takes all the precaution you would at home, and then some. They maintain a separate gluten free prep space, including separate toaster, pots and pans, and special color coded utensils. Instead of a dedicated fryer, the restaurant maintains a dedicated gluten free broaster oven. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Are Staffed Trained About Preventing Cross Contact? </h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Absolutely. This restaurant is owned a mom whose kids have food allergies. All staff are ServSafe trained. Staff change gloves, and aprons if the guest has Celiac Disease.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="600" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Procedures-600x600.png" alt="Alcona Brew Haus Gluten Free and Food Allergy Accommodations" class="wp-image-85783" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Procedures-600x600.png 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Procedures-300x300.png 300w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Procedures-150x150.png 150w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Procedures-768x768.png 768w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Procedures-1536x1536.png 1536w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Procedures-2048x2048.png 2048w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Procedures-500x500.png 500w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Does Alcona Brew Haus Accommodate Additional Dietary Restrictions? </h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">YES!&nbsp; Our kitchen uses no Peanuts, Tree nuts, Shellfish, or Sesame.&nbsp;We also accommodate dairy, egg, and soy dietary restrictions, upon request. Our goal is to make anyone, with any dietary restriction, feel welcome at our restaurant. We even use nitrile gloves in the kitchen, instead of latex, because we know latex allergies are a real concern. We also accommodate fish allergies.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Mac-Brisket-1.jpg" alt="Gluten Free Queso Mac and Cheese with Beef Brisket" class="wp-image-85784" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Mac-Brisket-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Alcona-Brew-Haus-Mac-Brisket-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What Led Alcona Brew Haus to Offer Such a Large Gluten Free Menu?</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As a food Allergy mom myself, I know how difficult it can be to go out to eat.&nbsp; The eye rolls, the “I don’t know” answers, and the “it should be fine” answers, etc.&nbsp; It was my passion to open a place where everyone can safely eat and feel welcome.&nbsp; I opened Alcona Brew Haus for them, and have no interest in a &#8220;regular restaurant.&#8221;&nbsp; </p>

<div class="wp-block-image">

</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Does Alcona Haus Offer Gluten Free Beer? </h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Yes! In fact, they offer 3 different gluten free beers. In addition they also serve wine, mead, and hard cider. Plus they offer Tito&#8217;s Vodka for making gluten free cocktails. *Note- Brewery Nyx is no longer in business. Hopefully Alcona can find another gluten free beer to have in stock. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Are Schar Products Celiac Safe?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Unfamiliar with <a href="https://www.schaer.com/en-us" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Schar</a>? While these Schar gluten free pizza crusts may be new to you, they are not new to the market. In truth, Dr. Schar &#8220;has been making products to support a healthy diet&#8221; since <b>1922</b>. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In collaboration with doctors and Celiac support groups, they launched their first gluten free line in 1981. Although their headquarters are in Italy, they have production facilities in Germany, Spain, United Kingdom and in the United States.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Gluten Free Products Does Schar Make?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you read my blog a lot, you know that I LOVE Schar products. I really appreciate that their products, like their <a title="Schar Artisan Bread – White and Multigrain" href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2015/08/24/new-schar-artisan-bread/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Artisan bread</a>, are shelf stable and travel easily. They make delicious cookies and snacks, like their Chocolix and Twin Bars, which taste like Twix and Kit Kat, respectively. In addition, produce delicious graham crackers, which I used in my<a title="Gluten Free Nanaimo Bars: Canadian Tradition" href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2018/11/16/gluten-free-nanaimo-bars-canadian-tradition/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> gluten free Nanaimo Bars.</a>&nbsp;Learn more about the<a href="https://eatatourtable.com/schar-gluten-free-bring-normal-to-the-gluten-free-life/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> Schar Gluten Free</a> product line over at Eat At Our Table, too..</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/schar-gluten-free-pizza-crusts-close-up-1-600x900.jpg" alt="schar gluten free pizza crusts close up" class="wp-image-6278" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/schar-gluten-free-pizza-crusts-close-up-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/schar-gluten-free-pizza-crusts-close-up-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Where Do You Buy the Schar Pizza Crust? </h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I find these <a href="https://amzn.to/4boIsX4">Schar gluten free pizza crusts</a> at my local Meijer. You can use their <a href="https://lets.shop/locators/44B/1099/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">store locator</a> to find them near you. They cost approximately $8 for a 2 pack of shelf stable pizza crusts. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The crusts come individually packaged in sealed plastic bags. I love this, because in a household of two, I only prepare one pizza at a time. These Schar gluten free pizza crusts boasts a <a href="https://www.schaer.com/en-us/p/pizza-crusts" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">pretty lean ingredient list</a>. No eggs, no dairy, and no long chemical additives that you can&#8217;t pronounce.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gluten Free Pizza WITHOUT Tomato Sauce</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Pizza really can be anything you make it. I needed to clean out our refrigerator prior to going on a vacation. Inside my fridge, I had a small piece of chicken, a few strips of bacon, a bag of spinach, and some milk about to turn south. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Therefore,I cooked up the chicken and bacon, wilted the spinach, and made this <a href="https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/256746/white-pizza-sauce/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">white pizza sauce recipe</a> I found on AllRecipes. Friends, the finished product was a true taste sensation. Don&#8217;t worry, I wrote out my recipe for you below!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Schar-Gluten-Free-Pizza-Crusts-slice-on-plate-1-600x900.jpg" alt="Schar Gluten Free Pizza Crusts slice on plate" class="wp-image-6279" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Schar-Gluten-Free-Pizza-Crusts-slice-on-plate-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Schar-Gluten-Free-Pizza-Crusts-slice-on-plate-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do I Need to Pre-Bake the Crust?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Before you make it, I want to share a few tips. Although the box doesn&#8217;t direct you to do so, I prebaked my Schar gluten free pizza crusts in the oven for about 3 minutes. I hate soggy crust, and I needed to make sure this pizza held up overnight. In addition, I baked my pizza on a <a href="https://amzn.to/42nzjKq" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">pizza stone</a>. Don&#8217;t own one? It makes such a difference. Using one recreates the &#8220;wood fired oven&#8221; kind of heat that makes pizza crust so crisp.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Michigan Made Italian Herb Blend</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Also, the original recipe linked above calls for various Italian herbs. I simply substituted &#8220;<a href="https://justaddtomatoespizzasauce.com/">Just Add Tomatoes</a>&#8221; seasoning blend. A Michigan father created this blend after having difficulty finding products safe for his son, who has food allergies. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I use it in tomato sauce, but also on chicken, popcorn, and more! You can order it directly from their website. Or simply use any gluten free Italian seasoning instead! Without further ado, here&#8217;s the recipe for my gluten free Chicken and Bacon Alfredo Pizza!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Is Jet&#8217;s Pizza Gluten Free Pizza Celiac Safe?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The inspiration for this recipe started during the beginning of the pandemic. My husband received a gift card to Jet&#8217;s Pizza. While they may offer a &#8220;gluten free&#8221; crust, they clearly state they don&#8217;t recommend them for those with Celiac Disease. This also goes for Domino&#8217;s, Hungry Howie&#8217;s, and Papa Johns.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gluten Free Pizza Crust for One</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I searched online for a &#8220;gluten free pizza crust for one.&#8221; I found nothing. What I did find was Zona Cooks&#8217; <a href="https://zonacooks.com/easy-no-yeast-pizza-dough-for-one/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Easy No Yeast Pizza Dough Recipe for One</a>. The only non-gluten free ingredient in her recipe was the flour. I subbed out all purpose wheat flour for a gluten free flour blend. It turned out good, and I was determined to tweak it a bit further. And now I share it with you!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Yeast-Free Biscuit Style Dough</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Her original recipe calls for oil. Because this dough is similar to biscuit dough, I felt cutting cold fat into the flour would create a bit more lift as it baked. Also, she called for milk in her recipe. When I first created this, I used 2 tbsp of cream, and 2 tbsp of milk. Why? Because biscuit recipes call for cream. You can use all milk, if you prefer. I also bumped up the baking powder.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-breakfast-pizza-1-1.jpg" alt="gluten free breakfast pizza" class="wp-image-8531" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-breakfast-pizza-1-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-breakfast-pizza-1-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Breakfast Pizza with Eggs and Bacon</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When most think of pizza for breakfast, they&#8217;re thinking of cold leftovers from last night&#8217;s pizza party. Maybe from one of these pizzerias I mention in my previous <a title="Gluten Free Pizza: Restaurants, Recipes &amp; More" href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2019/03/29/gluten-free-pizza-restaurants-recipes/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Gluten Free Pizza</a> pizza post. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">However, when I think about pizza for breakfast, I&#8217;m imaging scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese. And no tomato sauce. Gimme a creamy and herby ranch dressing. Since pork makes my husband ill, we use chicken or turkey bacon in our house. If you&#8217;re following a vegetarian diet, you could use this <a href="https://bojongourmet.com/4-ingredient-coconut-bacon/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">4 Ingredient Coconut Bacon</a> from The Bojon Gourmet.&nbsp; Or, this <a href="https://vegetarianmamma.com/tofu-bacon/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Tofu Bacon</a> from Vegetarian Mamma.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="864" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-bbq-pizza-with-stubbs-bottle-1-2.jpg" alt="gluten free bbq chicken pizza made with Stubb's BBQ Sauce pizza" class="wp-image-8530" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-bbq-pizza-with-stubbs-bottle-1-2.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-bbq-pizza-with-stubbs-bottle-1-2-208x300.jpg 208w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gluten Free Chicken BBQ Pizza using Stubb&#8217;s</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Many time people ask me for my &#8220;favorite&#8221; brand in a certain type of food. While I reply honestly, I also remind people that we all have different taste and texture preferences. What I like, you may not like. However, when it comes to barbecue sauce, my favorite has always been <a href="https://www.stubbsbbq.com/en-us" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Stubb&#8217;s</a>. All of their products undergo third party gluten free certification through GFCO.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While they have several gluten free barbecue sauces, their Smokey Mesquite variety is my current favorite flavor. It combines the perfect blend of bite and sweet. While preparing this Gluten Free Barbecue Chicken Pizza, I mixed some of the cooked chicken with the sauce, to keep it moist. I also used some as the sauce base, to give the perfect amount of moisture.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-pizza-bbq-pizza-closeup-1-1.jpg" alt="gluten free bbq chicken pizza slice closeup" class="wp-image-8535" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-pizza-bbq-pizza-closeup-1-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-pizza-bbq-pizza-closeup-1-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can You Prepare this Dough Dairy Free? Egg Free?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As written, this gluten free pizza crust for one uses no eggs. Zona Cooks&#8217; original recipe uses oil instead of butter. Therefore, you could simply use oil. I prepared this crust once with full fat coconut milk, and it worked fine. In fact, I prepared all of these pizzas using canned Coconut Cream. Why? Because I never remember to have fresh cream on hand.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Gluten Free Flour Blend Do You Use? </h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I created the pizza in these posts with Cup 4 Cup Multipurpose Gluten Free Flour. It does contain milk powder. If you want to make these dairy free, I recommend using King Arthur Flour Measure for Measure. I actually first created this dough using King Arthur Flour, but subbing part of the flour with corn starch, and it worked perfectly. I share my measurements in the recipe card.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-strawberry-shortcake-pizza-close-up-1-1.jpg" alt="gluten free strawberry shortcake pizza whole" class="wp-image-8534" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-strawberry-shortcake-pizza-close-up-1-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-strawberry-shortcake-pizza-close-up-1-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gluten Free Strawberry Shortcake Pizza</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As I previously mentioned, this gluten free pizza crust is basically a large, flat gluten free biscuit. Being that it&#8217;s summer time, my mind immediately went to strawberry shortcake. Could one create a pizza version? The blog Thursday Night Pizza shares a <a href="https://www.thursdaynightpizza.com/strawberry-shortcake-pizza/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Strawberry Shortcake Pizza,</a> but with the cream on the top. However, I wanted sauce on the bottom.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I gleamed some further inspiration from Eat At Our Table&#8217;s <a href="https://eatatourtable.com/gluten-free-cheesecake-stuffed-strawberries/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Gluten Free Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries</a>. I figured that a variation of her cheesecake filling would work great as a sauce base. Therefore, I combined sliced strawberries with sugar, which draws some of the juices out. (This is called &#8220;maceration.&#8221;) I then topped the crust with my sweet cream sauce, and the sliced &amp; drained strawberries. My husband agreed that this is one amazing dessert!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-slice-close-up-1-1.jpg" alt="gluten free strawberry shortcake pizza slice" class="wp-image-8533" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-slice-close-up-1-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/gluten-free-biscuit-crust-slice-close-up-1-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Small Batch Gluten Free Desserts</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">My household includes only 2 people. Well, three if you include the dog, who&#8217;s always up for a snack. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">During our trip to Houston, we dined at Your Pie. Founded in Athens, GA, they claim to be the &#8220;original fast casual&#8221; pizzeria. With a decade of pizza prep under their belt, they have dedicated fans across the country!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/your-pie-menu-1-1-600x900.jpg" alt="your pie pizza menu " class="wp-image-7002" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/your-pie-menu-1-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/your-pie-menu-1-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gluten Free Options at Your Pie</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Like so many of my <a title="Michigan Gluten Free Dining – Restaurants to Visit" href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2018/10/12/michigan-gluten-free-dining/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gluten free dining excursions</a>, I learned about Your Pie through the Find Me Gluten Free App. (As always, regardless of reviews, <a title="Dining Out Gluten Free? – Ask These Questions First!" href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2018/08/08/dining-out-gluten-free-questions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">still do your detective work</a>.) Staff are trained to change gloves and prepare gluten free pizzas in a separate prep area in the back. While they still cook in the same brick oven, they bake on a separate metal plate.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Your Pie caters to other dietary restrictions as well. Their gluten free pizza crust contains NO soy, egg or dairy. In fact, all pizza dough at Your Pie is vegan. They proudly offer Daiya cheese for pizza as well. For those with nut restrictions, you&#8217;ll only find them in their pesto and gelatos. (Specifically, Butterfinger, coconut, and pistachio flavors.) Find all this and more on their <a href="https://yourpie.com/ingredients-allergy-info/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Allergy Information page</a>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Gluten-Free-Houston-Your-Pie-Gluten-Free-Pizza-1-600x900.jpg" alt="Gluten Free Houston Your Pie Gluten Free Pizza" class="wp-image-6337" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Gluten-Free-Houston-Your-Pie-Gluten-Free-Pizza-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Gluten-Free-Houston-Your-Pie-Gluten-Free-Pizza-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gluten Free Pizza We BOTH Enjoyed</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At Your Pie, customers can choose from specific recipes or create your own. We choose the BBQ Chicken Pizza, as it contained no pork! As for other gluten free options, they also offer salads. (However, the Caesar salad, even without salad dressing, contains gluten.) All meat toppings contain no gluten free except for the meatballs. (Although ironically for us, they are pork free.)</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After a chilly walk in downtown Houston, this pizza was exactly what we needed. The staff were thorough in answering all my questions, both about food prep and about Your Pie in general. I realized after our pizza came to the table I visited Your Pie in Tennessee in 2015. I daresay this experience was even better than my first.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/your-pie-wines-1-1-600x900.jpg" alt="your pie red and white wines " class="wp-image-7003" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/your-pie-wines-1-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/your-pie-wines-1-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Your Pie Supports Local with Craft Beverages</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Each Your Pie location offers a large assortment of local, craft beers. Each location chooses their own, and even takes recommendations from customers. The downtown Houston location we visited offered an assortment of craft beers from Texas, Louisiana and Utah. They also served&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bishopcider.com/pineapple" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Pineapple Hard Cider</a> from Bishop Cider Company, as well as red and white wines.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/your-pie-sorbet-1-1-600x900.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7004" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/your-pie-sorbet-1-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/your-pie-sorbet-1-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gelato for Dessert?!</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While Your Pie offers brownies, sadly they are not gluten free. However, they do serve gelato and sorbet. The only gelato that contains gluten is the cookies and cream. Sorbets are dairy free.&nbsp; We did not order dessert that day, because we had plans to visit <a href="https://steelcitypops.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Steel City Pops</a> later in the day.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Your Pie Locations and Contact Information</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sadly, Your Pie exists mostly in the southern United states. Right now the closest location is Glenview near Chicago. Visiting Houston soon? Check out my other <a title="Gluten Free Houston – Great Friends &amp; Great Finds" href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2019/02/27/gluten-free-houston/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Houston gluten free discoveries</a> from our visit.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://yourpie.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Website</a> | <a href="https://www.facebook.com/yourpie/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Facebook</a> | <a href="https://www.instagram.com/yourpiepizza/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Instagram</a> |<a href="https://twitter.com/YourPie" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Twitter&nbsp;</a></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Your Pie is one of many restaurants I&#8217;ve visited. You can a list of my&nbsp; <a title="Michigan Gluten Free Dining – Restaurants to Visit" href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2018/10/12/michigan-gluten-free-dining/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Michigan gluten free dining</a>&nbsp;post. Please remember to always ask any restaurant about their<a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2018/08/08/dining-out-gluten-free-questions/"> food preparation practices</a>.</p>

Located in Fremont, MI, home of Gerber, this pizzeria understands the need to prevent cross contact. While I haven&#8217;t eaten there in years, I highly recommend their cheeseburger pizza. It may sound odd, but trust me when I say it may be the best pizza you&#8217;ve ever had.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Gluten Free Gathering</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In 2019, I joined others from the Grand Rapids area at Amore Trattoria Italiana. After hearing friends gush about it, I pounced at the chance to go when invited. We gathered around a table, and prepared for a lunch feast. The restaurant recently started opening for lunch, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Waitstaff faithfully answered every concern or question we tossed their way.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="791" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Menu-with-Gluten-Free-Options-1-600x791.jpg" alt="Amore Trattoria Italiana Menu with Gluten Free Options" class="wp-image-6251" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Menu-with-Gluten-Free-Options-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Menu-with-Gluten-Free-Options-1-228x300.jpg 228w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Gluten Free Mangia, Mangia!</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While Amore Trattoria Italiana offers a gluten free menu, we ordered off the regular&nbsp;lunch menu (pranzo) menu, which notates gluten free options. While we perused the menu, Chef Jenna Arcidiacono graciously sent fresh, hot gluten free bread to our table. After some discussion, we put in our orders and got to chatting.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our special lunch gathering included people newly diagnosed with Celiac Disease, as well as long time experts. Conversation included everything from <a title="Gluten Free Oats: Differences Defined" href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2019/01/16/gluten-free-oats-differences-defined/">oats</a>, best resources for gluten free recipes, and just every day life. While we waited for our food, Chef Jenna sent out a simple pizza for us to snack on.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our waitress was a great sport, holding it near the window so the natural light could show off it&#8217;s beauty! Amore Trattoria Italiana uses a dedicated pizza oven for gluten free pizza and other items, and use a dedicated gluten free pizza cutter&nbsp; for their GF pizzas.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Does Amore Trattoria Offer Gluten Free Items?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I started my meal with a delicious Spinach and Smoked Gorgonzola Soup. Rich and creamy, and incredibly flavorful. I asked Chef Jenna why she chose to offer gluten free options at Amore Trattoria Italiana. She said &#8220;I have loads of friends with gluten allergies/intolerances I wanted to accommodate.&#8221;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8220;I love feeding people and to me that means that everyone who walks through my doors at Amore Trattoria Italiana, regardless of food restrictions, should get a satisfying meal. Since I’m a vegetarian, I got tired of salads and boring items at restaurants. Therefore, I understand how gluten free eaters might feel the same!&#8221;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Gluten-Free-Pasta-Alla-Vodka-1-600x900.jpg" alt="Amore Trattoria Italiana Gluten Free Pasta Alla Vodka" class="wp-image-6255" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Gluten-Free-Pasta-Alla-Vodka-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Gluten-Free-Pasta-Alla-Vodka-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How Does Amore Trattoria Differentiate Gluten Free Orders? </h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For my main dish, I ordered the Pasta alla Vodka. I asked Chef Jenna about the intentional steps they take in preparing their gluten free pasta. They boil separate, clean water for all of their gluten free pasta.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When it comes to serving the customer, Amore Trattoria Italiana uses colored, fiestaware bowls for all gluten free meals.&nbsp; It gives the server a visual reminder that this is a specially prepared meal. By the way, all Amore staff took allergen safety courses. Impressive, as the state of Michigan only requires one person to be trained!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Gluten-Free-Tiramisu-1-600x900.jpg" alt="Amore Trattoria Italiana Gluten Free Tiramisu" class="wp-image-6256" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Gluten-Free-Tiramisu-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Gluten-Free-Tiramisu-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Does Amore Trattoria Serve Gluten Free Dessert?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As mentioned above, Chef Jenna loves to impress. Given enough advance notice, she willing prepares special dishes. For this special gluten free meet up, Chef Jenna went above and beyond by making Gluten Free Tiramisu. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">She used <a href="https://www.schaer.com/en-us/p/ladyfingers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Schar ladyfingers</a>, and it tasted better than I could ever imagine. I told her Chef Jenna I had been planning to make it at home, but there&#8217;s no way I could come close to creating something as delicious as hers!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">More about Chef Jenna</h2>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="450" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Chef-Jenna-Food-Network-600x450.jpeg" alt="Amore Trattoria Italiana Chef Jenna on Food Network's Guy's Grocery Games" class="wp-image-6260" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Chef-Jenna-Food-Network-600x450.jpeg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Chef-Jenna-Food-Network-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Amore-Trattoria-Italiana-Chef-Jenna-Food-Network.jpeg 616w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chef Jenna really is a rock star of a chef, while remaining incredibly personable and humble. Named one of <a href="https://issuu.com/grbj/docs/2018_miw_supplement/7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">50 most influential women in West Michigan</a>, she wants to create a scholarship fund for young women to grow their culinary skills.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Beyond that, she was a guest chef on&nbsp;Food Network&#8217;s <a href="https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2022017981189573" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Guy&#8217;s Grocery Games</a>. The episode was called Flavortown Fright Night, and aired around Halloween. As always, she sported her signature pink hairdo, and represented Michigan well.&nbsp; Chef Jenna shared, &#8220;I loved my time on the Food Network show. Guy, his staff and the judges were all amazing.&#8221;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Food Hugs</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chef Jenna is well known for her desire to give back to others. She started a non-profit called <a href="https://foodhugs.org/">Food Hugs</a>, which allows her to love on others who could use some support. Want to spread the love? Visit the Food Hugs website to donate or volunteer your time. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other Grand Rapids Gluten Free Dining Options</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As I often tell people, Grand Rapids is my favorite place to eat gluten free. There you&#8217;ll find <a href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/papa-chops-eatery-grand-rapids-mi/">Papa Chops</a>, a dedicated gluten free restaurant. The menu at <a href="https://www.mexogr.com/">Mexo</a> is mostly gluten free. <p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chebe All Purpose Bread Mix may be one of the most versatile products I&#8217;ve ever used. Use it to make pizza, pie, hot pockets and these gluten free pizza rolls. Thank you Chebe for sponsoring this post, and making gluten free life so much easier!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Gluten-Free-Pizza-Rolls-Rolled-Dough-with-Chebe-Box-1-600x900.jpg" alt="Gluten Free Pizza Rolls Rolled Dough with Chebe Box" class="wp-image-5550" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Gluten-Free-Pizza-Rolls-Rolled-Dough-with-Chebe-Box-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Gluten-Free-Pizza-Rolls-Rolled-Dough-with-Chebe-Box-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Recently I shared a picture of gluten free pizza rolls<a title="Plum Market Gluten Free Discoveries" href="https://miglutenfreegal.com/2013/05/05/a-trip-to-ann-arbor-and-plum-marke/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> I found at Plum Market</a>. You know, like Totino&#8217;s, before we needed to eat gluten free. People responded in <strong><em>pure</em> </strong>excitement. However, not everyone can find them nearby. And I can&#8217;t leave you, my friends, out in the proverbial cold. It inspired me to get in the kitchen so you can make them at home!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">My first attempt failed miserably. Therefore, a better name for that recipe is Pizza Bombs. As in &#8220;this recipe bombed.&#8221; As in &#8220;the filling exploded.&#8221; I have photo proof if you want to see it. There was red liquid oozing everywhere. (Thank goodness for parchment paper. #PinterestFail) I felt disappointed, but not defeated. I told myself, I CAN DO THIS!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/gluten-free-pizza-rolls-filled-close-up-1-600x900.jpg" alt="gluten free pizza rolls filled close up" class="wp-image-5551" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/gluten-free-pizza-rolls-filled-close-up-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/gluten-free-pizza-rolls-filled-close-up-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">PINCH ME</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The failure in the first gluten free pizza rolls recipe? Air. I folded the dough over the filling in my first attempt. I think the trapped air added to the &#8220;explosion.&#8221; Chebe puffs up, without the addition of yeast. This time, I chose to use small squares of Chebe dough. If you look up homemade pizza rolls on the Internet, most use egg rolls, laying one on top of another.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Question- Are you a visual learner? I am. Don&#8217;t tell me &#8220;north, south, east, west&#8221; without a map in front of me. I LOVE the quick cooking videos that can quickly show me how to do something. (However, I&#8217;m not gifted in making them. #TwoThumbs) </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Therefore, hopefully this picture of the formed gluten free pizza rolls shows how firmly you press the sides on this. They look akin to ravioli. You want to make sure as you cover the filling, you press and seal the gluten free pizza rolls from the center, out. Remember, we don&#8217;t want trapped air.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/gluten-free-pizza-rolls-dipped-close-up-no-box-1-600x900.jpg" alt="gluten free pizza rolls dipped close up" class="wp-image-5552" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/gluten-free-pizza-rolls-dipped-close-up-no-box-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/gluten-free-pizza-rolls-dipped-close-up-no-box-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
</div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">GET STUFFED</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The trick in getting these gluten free pizza rolls to work is to NOT over stuff them. I drop about one tsp of filling on the bottom crust. Trust me, while I know you want all the hot cheesey, saucey goodnesss you can stuff in your mouth, don&#8217;t over do it. Otherwise, that filling oozes out the sides, and you&#8217;ve defeated that half an hour of prep work. And that would be sad!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="600" height="900" src="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/gluten-free-pizza-rolls-bite-taken-1-600x900.jpg" alt="gluten free pizza rolls bite taken" class="wp-image-5549" srcset="https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/gluten-free-pizza-rolls-bite-taken-1.jpg 600w, https://miglutenfreegal.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/gluten-free-pizza-rolls-bite-taken-1-200x300.jpg 200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></figure>
