In Michigan, we are lucky that a number of breweries and brew pubs are accommodating food allergies and dietary restrictions. Archival Brewing, located just outside of Grand Rapids has an amazing reputation in the Celiac Disease community. Why do you choose to offer gluten free options?
We have several friends and family members with gluten intolerance, celiac, and allergens to gluten. Therefore we strived to create and offer items that would be safe for those that cannot have gluten.
Is your entire menu also free from any other allergens?
We are also a peanut free facility. We have a few items that contain other nuts, and have pistachios in house for a couple dishes.

What kind of oil do you use for frying/ cooking?
We use soy oil for our fryers and many other dishes. We also use olive oil for a few items on our menu.
Do you use gluten free wheat starch or oats in your gf meals?
No. We primarily use Bobs Red Mill 1-to-1 GF pastry flour. We use Udi’s for our Gluten Free sandwich buns and Gluten Free pizza dough.
Do you have a separate gluten free menu?
No, we don’t have a separate gluten free menu. Our regular menu(s) indicates gluten free options with a “GF” or “GFO” for items. This highlights dishes which are already gluten free or can easily be made gluten free with optional ingredients.

Do you have a separate prep area for gluten free dishes?
No, we do not. We clearly state on our menu that we are not a dedicated gluten free facility. Our staff take extra precautions when preparing food allergen items.
What steps do you take to prevent cross contact in the kitchen?

- Yes we cook these items in a clean saute pan when applicable.

What training do your staff receive on preparing gluten free meals safely?
We require everyone in of our management team(s) to have serve safe Allergens and Food Manager training complete within 60 days of employment. Any additional training is trickle down from Callee and myself, which is brought to and taught to the rest of the staff. They are all very aware of the severity and need for these precautions.
Do you have picks or special plates that denote a GF meal?
Yes we use a “Allergen” pick to indicate any and all allergens.

Do you have gluten free vegetarian or vegan options?
Yes we have a few items that are or can be GF and vegitarian. We do not have a large enough demand to offer many or any vegan items. We can substitute items to make a vegan dish or two.
Is there an upcharge for gluten free items, and is it noted on your menu?
Yes we do as this is an extra cost for us. We only do this to cover these incurred costs. This is clearly denoted on our menu.

Do you offer gluten free desserts?
Yes, we offer gluten free desserts, which we make in house. Pictured above is out gluten free Basque Cheesecake.
Do you offer gluten free beer/ hard cider/ wine?
We do not offer gluten free beer. However, we make meads and ciders, which are naturally gluten free. We create them in house, in dedicate gluten free equipment, and serve them on dedicated gluten free taps. We also offer 6 local wines, as well as a full cocktail bar with liquors. (bourbon, vodka, rum, gin, agave spirit, and several others)
For those avoiding alcohol we also serve mocktails and Michigan Made Detroit City sodas.

Do you have patio seating at Archival Brewing? Are dogs allowed outside?
We have a heated deck as well as a large beer garden with seating, yard games, and fire pits. Archival Brewing welcomes friendly dogs to all of our outdoor areas. We even offer a dog burger on our menu for our furry guests! Plus we always have treats available for them.
What unique events do you have at your restaurant?
We host weekly trivia on Thursdays, and we have live music every Friday throughout the year. In addition, we offer live music on Thursdays & Saturdays in the beer garden during the warmer months.
Do you offer weekly deals? Kids half off? Lunch deals? Happy Hour?
We offer a $15 burger and beer/shot & pop lunch combo. We also have Brunch on Sundays. That includes a Bloody Mary and mimosa bar, a Brunch combo for 2 people ($60 for any two brunch items and a bottle of sparkling wine that you can BYO mimosa).

We also offer a mug club membership , which costs $75 a year. Members earn the use of a 24oz mug for the entire year. Benefits of mug club membership include:

What else would you like people to know about Archival Brewing?
We offer gluten free kids menu items. including gluten free chicken tenders, burgers, grilled cheese and a veggie platter. Kids can enjoy a gluten free root beer float as well.
We also host private events. In 2026, Revue Magazine nominated Archival Brewing for the best small venue in their Best of the West contest. We host anything from large groups to weddings, graduation open house, corporate events, holiday parties…etc. We also offer (new this upcoming winter) igloos in our beer garden with full service of food and drinks.

Do you have parking on premises? Any tips on traveling to Archival Brewing?
Our location offers ample parking on premises. We’re located near Grand Rapids, north of 96 and east of 131. If you’re planning to take in a Whitecaps baseball game, we’re less than a 10 minute drive from the stadium.
