Dough by Rumi’s Passion is Metro Detroit’s first dedicated gluten free deli. They offer an assortment of sandwiches, all on fresh made bread. They also offer soup, salads, and more.
I’ve been to Dough a few times, and am excited to share this business with you. While I know some of the basics, I emailed the owner, Tara Nissan, to ask her a few more specific questions. Her answers are below.
Where is Dough by Rumi’s Passion?
Dough is located in downtown Wixom, right next door to the Dairy Queen. Wixom is approximately a 15 minute drive from Novi. So if you’re shopping at Twelve Oaks Mall, it’s a great side trip to grab a meal after shopping. It’s also near the Huron Valley Rail Trail.
What Allergens are Dough baked goods free from?
Our bread products are free from gluten, dairy, corn, oats, soy and artificial dyes and preservatives. Our vegan bread is also egg-free. We do on occasion make a Jalapeno Cheddar bread, which would be the only exception for a bread containing dairy.
What’s On the Menu?
Dough is a deli that makes their own gluten free bread, which are used for sandwiches. They are LARGE. So big that I often feel I need to take half of it home. Sandwiches include chips and a pickle. Soup and salads are available, depending on the time of the year. I’ve eaten here twice, and I highly recommend the California Chicken Club.
What kind of Lunch/ Dinner options do they have?
As Dough by Rumi’s Passion is a Deli, we offer a wide range of sandwiches and bread products daily, using the finest quality meats and cheeses from Boar’s Head. We also offer souffles, quiche and savory rolls such as pepperoni & cheese and Spinach & Feta.
We offer Tractor beverages, which are all organic, non-GMO with no artificial additives. During the Spring and Summer, we offer salads and, in the Fall, and Winter, we offer a variety of soup options.
Does Dough have Vegetarian or Vegan options?
We do have a vegan bread option for people who need Egg-Free sandwiches. We also offer vegan cheese slices. On our menu, we have The Vegan sandwich, and we also have build-your-own options where people can choose their own toppings. We offer classic toppings such as lettuce, tomato and onions etc, as well as premium toppings like hummus, avocado spread, roasted peppers, pickled onions, etc.
During the Fall and Winter seasons, we offer a variety of soups, and we always include at least one vegan and one vegetarian option. During the Spring and Summer seasons, we offer a variety of salads, with at least one vegan and one vegetarian.
Does Dough have Gluten Free Desserts Available?
We have a select variety of desserts available that are delivered from Rumi’s Passion Gluten Free bakery that include cupcakes, brownies, muffins and cookies.
What About Bagels? Soft Pretzels?
Bagels are baked only on Fridays and Pretzels are baked every Friday and Saturday.
Do they take Special Orders? Do they cater?
We take orders for all bread products, souffles, quiche and require a 48-hour notice. We also offer catering and require 24-hour notice for catering orders.
Do They Stock Grocery Items like Rumi’s Passion Does?
We have an area where we sell products that are made in Michigan. We believe in supporting other local, small businesses. Therefore, we carry Full Flavor Foods gravies and sauces, Milford Spice Co. seasoning blends and spices, Rumi’s Passion All-purpose flour blend, LIV Bearnaise sauces & Pizza-Pi pizza sauces.
We also have a freezer section with Old World Gluten-Free Pierogies and frozen items from Rumi’s Passion such as vegan pizza dough balls, challah dough balls, pie crust, pie dough balls, take and bake scones and take and bake biscuits.
Where’s the best place to park when visiting Dough?
Since Dough is in Downtown Wixom, we have parking right in front of our storefront on Pontiac Trail Rd. We also have a large parking lot in the back of our complex. (A walkway provides easy access to the front.)
Does Dough have indoor seating?
Dough do not have room for indoor seating. We currently have a few tables and chairs outside of our shop. Drafting Table Brewing Company down the street does allow outside food, and is a great place to sit and eat. They have hard cider, as well as wine. This brewery is also family friendly and allows children until 8 pm.
What Else is There to do in Wixom?
Downtown Wixom is a wonderful place to hang out at, especially in the summer. Every Thursday, Downtown Wixom does outdoor concerts which offer a fun family-friendly environment.
