I had to look up 7 minute frosting, beat it for 7 minutes over double boiler!!??? I am so not a baker…curious, does it taste amazing versus ye old frosting?

In reply to Jane Rate. My mother in law used to make the 7 minute frosting from scratch. But when family couldn't tell the difference between the homemade and the canned, she switched to canned as a time saver.

My April birthday was celebrated with this cake for many years. The only variation was 7 minute frosting covered with coconut. Good memories!

Awww – this looks like a cake my mom made MANY years ago! The weather warms and I start thinking about lemon almost instantly – this looks so yummy and kinda tugs and my heartstrings too!
