Dear Penny, I have a friend who has a place in Newberry. :) There are no Celiac Disease support groups in the area that I know of. Have you checked out the Find Me Gluten Free app?
Some people have mentioned that Rahilly's IGA and Mac's Market have gluten free groceries. Timber Charlie's Food & Spirit had a few ok reviews. Lots of praise for Moofinfries in Naubinway. Apparently someone in the owner's family takes it very seriously. They are reported to have a dedicated fryer. I don't know of any upper peninsula gluten free Facebook groups, unfortunately.

Do you have any recommendations for a person with ciliac’s living in a small rural town (Newberry) in the upper peninsula of Michigan. It’s so hard to find anything gluten free in our stores. I have to drive at least 1-2 hours just to get to a Walmart or meijers. I do what I can by mail but they won’t send some things true the mail. A lot of what I can order thru the mail is so expensive. Going out to eat at restaurants is really hard as most of the workers don’t know what gluten free is.
